Ever since I started painting I have been attracted to studies of natural objects and the effect that exposure to the weather has had on their surface

usually this remains stubbornly all day

When I looked again at the initial painting I realised that the lane was crying out for something

Today these trees have matured and tower above as you walk through the woodland. This Douglas Fir is not particularly unique but its towering presence makes a magnificent subject.
