This was probably the largest Gambel Oak I have ever seen and it was sad to see it killed by fire but I’m glad I was able to recover the wood and make some beautiful pieces from it

WT #75, Hollow Form Vessel from Gambel Oak with Malachite inlay four The European bison which wentHollow Form Vase from Gamble Oak with Malachite inlay, 7 diameter x 7. 125 tall with 2 opening, finished with walnut oil and cyanoacrylate to 50,000 grit buff. This is one of my favorite smaller pieces. Gambel Oak is very slow growing mountain species and even though this piece is only 7 diameter there are approximately 80 growth rings in it and so much character.
