It is a sweater dress and made of a lightweight knit that has silver thread worked through it so the dress has a subtle glint in the light

It is cut in a long sheath that widens as it nears the hem making it very easy to wear

The fabric is very beautiful on this one - the metallic design is a stunning combination of blue and gold with shots of pink and green thread worked in - these catch and glimmer in the light wonderfully

Some small shattering to the edges of the petals and some small breaks in the betting - still sound and pretty

Empire Waist: 14-16" flat across the back from side seam to side seam

c1980 Yves Saint Laurent Red Silk Dot Day Dress designer-zandra-rhodes It is a sweater dressI suspect that this was from the 1980 Rive Gauche collection as it is eerily similar in design and cut to the 1979 Haute Couture version I have had in recently (see that one here). The dress is amazing and a classic Yves Saint Laurent cut and silhouette. The silk is of the highest possible grade and I adore the red and white dot pattern. It has a very 40s throwback feel and is very chic. The top is loose fitting and the sleeves slightly voluminous
